On Monday, the Ukrainian stock market did not show any particular originality, but rather followed global platforms downwards. The DJIA’s growth from minus to zero in the second half of the day began only after the Ukrainian Exchange had already closed, so it was only able to sweeten Ukrainian investors’ mood only virtually. However, this was in vain; so, this morning, futures on leading U.S. indices are sliding to the lows of yesterday's trading session.
Investor sentiment laid at the heart of risky assets’ decline at the beginning of this week. Thus, as we noted previously, market players are inclined to interpret almost any headlines as either negative or not positive enough. For example, on Monday, one example of a not sufficiently positive news was the publication of the ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI figures, which exceeded market expectations, but actually had no effect on index dynamics.
Given such an attitude on the part of market participants, we suppose that, before the long weekend, Ukrainian players should not expect the market to undergo a strong upward rebound.
