On Tuesday, investors suddenly changed their attitude about what is happening, and focused on the positive side of events. The main instigators of optimism are also the generators of very recent problems: the buzz surrounding Spain’s possible debt problems and earnings reports issued by leading corporations. In the first case, trading results exceeded the market’s informal expectations (indeed, why not just take advantage of the recent increase in yields?). In the second case, the financial performance of technology companies were better than forecast.
At the same time, futures on the S&P 500 Index will only have to gain a foothold above the local maximum – that would be fundamental for continued growth. We also note that, despite the apparent change in sentiment, the market reaction to recent corporate reports has been mixed. Stocks like IBM and Intel declined by 2.29% and 3.13% respectively after the close of the trading session. Thus, it can be argued that the buyers on world trading platforms still have no decisive advantage.
