Ukrainian Exchange becomes a corresponding member of the World Federation of Exchanges
The Ukrainian Exchange has been granted a status of a corresponding member of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), which includes around 100 members. The resolution was taken on October 10-12, 2011 at the General Assembly of WFE held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
With its new status, the Ukrainian Exchange has gained an opportunity to participate in discussions and developing WFE official positions and recommendations on improving financial markets including enhancing stock and currency markets regulation procedures.
"Granting the Ukrainian Exchange the status of a WFE corresponding member indicates recognition of quality and reliability of the Ukrainian market for international investors by the global financial community and is the first step in acquiring by the Ukrainian Exchange the full membership in WFE - comments Oleg Tkachenko, CEO of Ukrainian Exchange. – This status will allow the Ukrainian Exchange not only to adopt and apply the expertise of the developed countries, but to make our own contribution to the global market development".
The membership is comprised of 54 regulated exchanges from all regions of the world. WFE also includes 5 Associates, 17 Affiliates and 28 Correspondents.
"To become a full-fledged member of WFE, we need to meet all criteria of WFE relating trading environment, clearing and settlement on securities and other investment products, Mr.Tkachenko commented. – It is generally believed that an exchange meets all the requirements if all needs of trading participants are satisfied. It is one of the most important factors, which proves the efficiency of the market. We are determined to do our best to reach the required level and become a WFE Member exchange".
Be advised that RTS Stock Exchange was an affiliate member of the Federation since 2007, and on October 12, 2011 RTS Stock Exchange became a full-fledged member of WFE.
